Angelina S.

Hi! I’m Angelina, but most people call me Ang! I grew up in Calgary, Alberta but I moved to an acreage on the outskirts of the city at the end of elementary school. My life has consisted of dogs, cats, chickens, and spending time outside with my family. You will likely find me reading or having a snuggle with my dog, Cody. I am currently studying Psychology at University of Calgary, planning to transition into an Education degree later on. My dream is to work in an elementary school where I can make a positive and nurturing impact in my future students’ lives.

I grew up in a Catholic household, yet all I knew was that Sundays were for getting up early and dressing up in my “church clothes.” I had no idea until I joined CCO in my first semester of university that Jesus desired to have a personal relationship with me. With ME?? I couldn’t believe it was true. Allowing myself to open up to Jesus and to surrender to Him with a childlike heart was the greatest love story I could ask for. In the words of Pope Benedict XVI, I have lost nothing from inviting Jesus to be at the center of my life, yet I have gained everything I needed in return.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

My choice to put Jesus at the center of my life is only a part of my story. Ever since I had my conversion, I have made it my goal to share the love that I have received with my peers. Why would I keep this amazing love that Jesus has offered to myself when I can share it with others! Having the opportunity to go on mission is such an amazing gift I have received from God. It will allow me to strengthen and grow in my missionary identity while also helping others learn how to build their own personal relationships with Jesus. Not only that, but I will be growing as a missionary disciple through fellowship with my mission teammates. My drive for mission is being able to bring others closer to Jesus so that they may experience the ultimate love story that I had the opportunity to discover through CCO!
