Hello hello! My name is Anabella Villeneuve, and I am in my second year of Software Engineering at Carleton University. I was born and raised in Ottawa by my loving parents, and I have two older sisters and a younger brother. I have been attending St. Mary’s Parish for as long as I can remember, and I have always loved being involved with the many ministries in my church. I currently volunteer with the tech team to help out with live-streaming mass, and I am also involved with the youth group as a leader and worship team member. My favorite hobby is playing the acoustic guitar, which I have been jamming out on since the age of nine. I love to worship the Lord with my music when I am leading the youth group in songs of praise, or even when I’m sitting on my bed at home playing around with melodies and chords. Some other hobbies of mine include computer coding, hiking, running, and watching star wars 😉
Why do I want to be on Mission?
The Lord is calling us to set the world on fire! He says himself in Luke 12 verse 49: “I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!” Jesus wants his slumbering church to be fully awake, he wants our hearts to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can burn with love for him, and spread this fire to others. Within the past several months God has really put it on my heart that the church is in dire need of a renewal, and that he wants me to do something about it. We are all called to aid in this renewal, and in my case I have felt called to go on mission with CCO. I hope to be able to spread the love and truth of Jesus Christ during World Youth Day, which I have come to know so deeply during my faith journey. The bible verse I keep at the forefront of every day is Colossians 3 verse 2: “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” I hope to deepen my own faith while on mission, keep my eyes set on the eternal mission, and set the hearts of others on fire for Jesus.
