Hi, my name is Chidera, and I am a student at Mount Royal University, currently majoring in Information Design. I was born in Nigeria but moved to Calgary when I was two and have lived here ever since. I am the second oldest of four kids and the only girl. Coming from an immigrant family, I have been blessed to witness God moving in the lives of my parents and family as a whole. I continue to see him work in our lives as we have been so privileged to call Canada our home these past 18 years. In my spare time, I love art and creating, spending time with my brothers, going on road trips, and going to mass with my closest friends.
CCO has become a large part of my life in such a short amount of time and has not only helped me discover my faith and deepen my relationship with Jesus but also given me the space to help others do the same. I thank God every day for the family that I now have through this movement, and I can’t wait to see what He has in store for me next!
Why do I want to be on Mission?
I want to go into a mission to be able to grow deeper in holiness because I believe that when we grow in mission, it directly correlates to growing in holiness. When we share the gospel, we, in turn, grow deeper in our faith and love for Jesus, and it permeates all that we do. In Halifax, I hope to show people in parishes that young people can bring life to the faith in a city that has suffered so much during COVID. So many people who live with their Catholic faith don’t even know that Jesus can be personal for them. I want to present Jesus in a way that allows them to encounter Him personally through living an authentic witness and showing them the joy that Jesus brings.
