Hello everyone!

My name is Claire O’Brien and I am a second-year transfer student at the University of Calgary in the Communications and Media program. I was born and raised in Edmonton and just recently made the move to Calgary after doing my first year of studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Some of my favorite things include drinking good coffee, playing my ukulele, and rowing on the UofC Dino’s rowing team!

Before meeting CCO, faith played a very small role in my life. I grew up in a Catholic family. We went to church on Sundays and did all the sacraments at the times when most kids do, but I thought nothing of it – it was our routine.

I found CCO on my first day of living of St. John’s. Taking Discovery at MUN gave me a completely new way of looking at faith. I learned about how putting Christ at the center of your life does not mean that you are perfect of a Nun or that God will send you to live in a cave but that it is about a commitment to unconditional love. Discovery defused all the fears I had about being a Catholic, and instead made me excited for all the doors that a life with Christ would open. I put Christ at the center of my life and haven’t looked back since.

I am incredibly excited for this opportunity to return to St. John’s. I am most looking forward to providing tools to the students and parishioners in St. John’s so that they can reignite the love for Christ in Newfoundland! Every soul longs to know Jesus and I am so humbled by this opportunity to accompany others on their journey’s towards Christ.
Thank you for taking time to read my story. I kindly ask for your financial support towards my mission and your prayers for the whole mission team. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
God Bless,

We lead evangelization missions around the world.
