My name is Daniel Agbuis and I will be travelling to Panama with Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) on their missionary team for World Youth Day 2019. I am a former student from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario, where I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and am currently working as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit in Toronto. Thank you for taking the time to read my missionary profile!

I was raised in a Catholic family and growing up my faith has always been an important part of my life. I attended mass weekly and did my daily and nightly prayers whenever my parents told me to. As I grew into my teenage years, God took the backseat and I began to live rebelliously. I stopped altar serving, dragged my feet to mass and I was involved in a number of unhealthy relationships. In university, I continued to live a double life. I tried to satisfy the requirements of living as a Catholic by going to mass every Sunday, attending retreats and being involved in my parish. Yet, I longed to fulfill the desires of the world and I continued to live with God as a part of my life, and not the centre. I was lost and was living a purposeless, selfish and unfulfilling life. I turned to a number of things to fill the void in my heart, that only God could.

Yet the Lord found His way in and loved me through my brokenness. It wasn’t until university that I discovered CCO and was invited to participate in faith studies. Upon completing the Discovery faith study, I learned that His love didn’t have to be earned, because Jesus died for me. After encountering God in this way, I decided to give my ‘yes’ to put Him at the centre of my life. From then on, I became involved in CCO, leading faith studies and participating in all five studies as well.

As I entered deeper and deeper into my relationship with the Lord, He opened the doors to so many opportunities. I have been fortunate enough to attend 2 world youth day celebrations: Madrid 2011 and Krakow 2017. These were very formative moments in my life where I encountered Jesus personally and thus strengthened my relationship with God and deepened my faith. It was the first time I had met fellow Catholics from all over the world, and I believe this is where God planted the missionary seed in my heart and gave me a heart for the world.

I would like for you to prayerfully consider supporting my mission to Panama in 2019 either prayerfully or financially. Without your support, this mission would not be possible and thus your contribution is just as important as the mission itself. By supporting me, you would be a partner in this mission and will be instrumental in bringing Christ to those who long for Him.

Please keep the CCO Panama mission team in your prayers as we prepare to share the message of the Gospel and help our brothers and sisters from around the world encounter Jesus and place him at the centre of their lives.

We lead evangelization missions around the world.
