Hello! My name is David Krasna and I am a 3rd-year kinesiology student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia!

I grew up in Ontario, in a large Catholic family having 4 brothers and 1 sister. As a family, we went to church on Sundays, said prayers before meals, and occasionally prayed the rosary. I personally was involved in my church by altar serving and being a children’s liturgy leader. When I flew to the east coast, all of my involvement in my faith dropped.

I would have stopped all practices of being a Catholic except that my mother told me to make sure I get involved with CCO. In my 1st year during the September society expo, I signed up to take a faith study with CCO. My faith went up and down throughout my first year and start of 2nd. I was missing Sunday mass often and faith studies were my peak involvement with CCO.

Halfway through my 2nd year, I started to participate more in the CCO community, as well as attend mass regularly. I started going to more events which meant meeting new people. These people I was meeting were filled with a happiness and joy that I wanted, so I started to hang out a lot more with them. At the end of my 2nd year, a friend asked me to run for CCO exec. I thought that I was the least likely person to do the job, but through encouragement from my peers I ran and am happy to have said made it on the exec team for my 3rd year.

This school year is where things really started to take off in my faith. I was challenged many times to be open about my faith to my friends as well as the students at Dalhousie. I made many great friendships with people involved with CCO. They challenge me to get out of my comfort zone, not only in my faith but in other leadership roles as well. I went from coming to university not caring about my faith, to currently been to RishUp 2018, leading faith studies, and organizing and MCing CCO events. I would have never thought in my first year at university, that I would be where I am today in my faith.

I am very excited to be going to NYC for mission. More and more every day I look back in my past and see how God worked in my life to get where I am today. Through my experience in stepping out into a university campus, being open about my faith and bringing others towards Christ, I know I am equipped with the tools I need to spread the gospel in New York.

Thank you and God bless!
