Hello! My name is Devon, and I am a second year Education student at the University of Calgary. I also have a Bachelor of Music degree from the UofC. Besides teaching and music, I am also passionate about books, coffee, and the Catholic faith.

I met CCO in 2017, at a time when I was beginning to learn about Catholicism. At the time I believed in God, but I didn’t see Him as a very important part of my life. During my Music degree, however, I met a friend who was more than happy to tell me about why he was Catholic, and had answers to my endless questions. I was intrigued, so I continued to learn more through books and YouTube videos. My friend introduced me to CCO, and although I wasn’t Catholic yet, I was warmly welcomed into the community.

I took my first CCO faith study in the Fall of 2017, and it changed my heart. Although I was raised in a Christian home, I had never fully understood the Gospel message. Throughout the Discovery study, however, I began to understand what Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross really meant, and the depth of His love for us. I invited Jesus into my heart, and my life hasn’t been the same since. I was baptized and confirmed at Easter in 2018, and I am continually filled with faith and love seeing what God has done in my life.

Not only has my involvement with CCO helped me to learn about the Catholic faith and played an enormous role in my conversion, it has also given me opportunities to share the Gospel message with others, which has brought me so much joy and deepened my own faith. I am so excited to go on mission to Scotland to be God’s hands and feet in sharing the good news and helping people to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ, as well as guiding them in sharing their faith with others. The Holy Spirit has so much in store for the parishioners at the St Mary of the Assumption Cathedral in Aberdeen, and I am so blessed with the opportunity to be a part of it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about me and this mission project. Please consider supporting me through prayer and/or a financial donation toward the mission. Thank you in advance for your generosity – the support of friends, family, and the Catholic community will ensure our success in Scotland, and I look forward to sharing the fruits of it with you!
