Diego D. M.

My name is Diego Diaz-Meneses, and I am a first-year student in the Bachelor of Education program at Mount Royal University (MRU). My goal as a teacher is to leave a positive, lasting impact on the lives of all my future students. My family originates from Mexico, but I have lived in Calgary for almost all my life. Some of my hobbies are playing sports, such as soccer and football, and enjoying nature, such as going on hikes with my family.

I was raised Catholic but only recently became more dedicated to having a personal relationship with Jesus. I realized that I was given the amazing gift of growing up in a Catholic family, but as an adult, it is now my responsibility to continue nurturing and growing my faith. I joined Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) at MRU in September 2024. Through this group, I re-affirmed my decision to have Jesus at the center of my life. In January 2025, I became a faith study leader and was able to share my love for Jesus with other young adults in my university community.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

I want to go on this mission because I love sharing my passion for the faith and teaching others about Jesus Christ. By leading a faith study with CCO, I learnt how amazing and fulfilling it is to share the Gospel with others. There is no greater joy than the face of someone when they decide to place Jesus at the centre of their lives. I want to show everyone I encounter on this Mission that Jesus loves them and wishes to have a personal relationship with them. When I first applied for this mission trip, I wasn’t sure if this was what God was calling me to do. However, he opened every single door that needed to be opened for me to go. Now, I have great confidence that Jesus wants me to spread his word and the love that He has shown me.
