Hello! I’m Felicity Nugent, I’m 19 years old and live in Redwood Meadows, Alberta. I am in my 2nd year of studies at Mount Royal University for a Bachelor of Elementary Education. I look forward to being a Kindergarten teacher with my degree and being a positive influence on early learners while fostering a love for learning.
I grew up in a beautiful Catholic outdoorsy family, I am the second oldest of 5 kids and was raised to love God and know that I was His beloved daughter. My mom homeschooled my siblings and me for most of our schooling which provided lots of opportunities and time for my parents to teach us kids about our Faith. We spent many nights watching Catholic youth series on different books of the Bible and grew up learning about John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. My dad had the opportunity to take many courses from the TOB Institute and graduate from the program.
My free time in summer is filled with hiking, camping, volunteering at summer camps, and archery. While my winters are a lot of skiing, snowboarding, and now a lot of university assignments. I also really like music, primarily singing and playing drums.
I joined CCO in my last semester of grade 12 in 2021, and since then I have been a part of their Mount Royal chapter. I was so grateful to begin to meet like-minded Catholics through CCO and quickly got involved in all their events & retreats Fall of 2021 & Winter of 2022 I had the opportunity to co-lead a Source and lead a Growth faith study. I continue to participate in faith studies as a leader and participant while being on Student Exec for this school year of 2022/2023.
Why do I want to be on Mission?
I had applied for Halifax but after the Lord put the idea of going to Uganda in my heart. When CCO received the Halifax application they called and I was surprised when they asked if I was open to going to Uganda and that I was accepted if I chose to go. I didn’t have too much time to answer, but I was so thankful to have the opportunity to go to Adoration that night and pray “God if you want me to go, I’ll go”. He filled me with immense peace & joy, and although I was nervous I knew in my heart that this is the mission God is calling me to. Theology of the Body is also taught specifically on this mission, and I am very passionate about learning and helping others know JP II’s amazing work.
I am so excited and blessed to have this opportunity to go on the Uganda Mission with CCO, and thankful to God for all CCO has done in my life.
Thank you for all your prayers and donations for the mission!
