My Story
Hi, I’m Gabi! I’m a first year Nursing student at Mount Royal University. I was born and raised in Calgary where I love to spend time in the mountains! I spend a lot of my time rock climbing, hiking, and excessively talking to others. I have a deep interest in languages and have learned 3 with the goal of learning 5.
I was raised in a Catholic household where faith had always been a part of my life. I knew who Jesus was but viewed Him as someone far away. In my final year of high school, I changed that relationship to be more personal. Jesus became my best friend. Once I started university, I joined CCO and participated in a faith study. My involvement has only grown as I became a faith study leader and grow in being a missionary disciple.
Why do I want to be on Mission?
Since a young age, I have always had the dream of serving a mission. However, throughout these past months, I have been able to see first hand how God is working within our campuses and it has placed a fire in my heart to share the good news of God. More people around the world need to hear the Gospel; it should not be limited to our university campuses. Malta has been a prayer answered, where I can use this fire to help around the globe. Every person we meet is a God given opportunity to love and to serve. It would be selfish to not spread the love of God as it is our duty as Catholics to be missionary disciples. We need to open our hearts and our lives to serve the last, the least, and the lost to bring them to Christ.
