My Story

Hi 🙂 My name is Grace Leah. I am a fourth-year student in the Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences program at the University of Ottawa, preparing to graduate this summer. I have recently been accepted into one of my dream programs, a Master of Science in Translational Research and Applied Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine, something I once never thought was possible. I am also currently in the final stages of the admission process for the Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (M.D., C.M.) program at McGill University’s School of Medicine.

Growing up, I struggled in many areas of my life. I often felt lost, unsure of who I was, and overwhelmed by mistakes I believed defined me. School was especially difficult, and I was frequently told I might need to repeat a grade. I tried to fit in in ways that did not reflect who I truly was, and I often felt empty and alone.

Everything began to change when I turned to prayer. I remembered hearing that if you ever feel alone, you can talk to Jesus. So I did. I started praying honestly and surrendering everything on my heart. For the first time, I felt truly heard. Day by day, my relationship with Jesus grew, and so did I. Through prayer, trust, and a deeper relationship with Him, my life began to transform. I found direction, peace, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Over time, the struggles that once felt overwhelming no longer defined me. I began to grow in confidence, love myself and others more deeply, and even excel in school. I came to understand that I am loved by God and created with purpose. Today, I no longer feel empty but filled with His love, and I feel called to share that love with others.

I am currently involved in student leadership with CCO at the University of Ottawa, where I have the opportunity to share the Gospel with students on campus. I feel called to continue sharing this message of hope with as many people as possible, including through this upcoming mission to Ireland.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

I want to go on this mission to remind people that they are not alone.

There was a time in my life when I felt lost, unsure, and disconnected. Through my journey, I discovered that Jesus is not only my Saviour, but our Saviour. He is always there, waiting for us with open arms.

No matter what someone is going through, I truly believe there is hope. By choosing Jesus daily and placing Him at the center of our lives, transformation is possible. I have experienced this firsthand, and it is something I feel deeply called to share.

Through this mission, I hope to share my story and help others encounter the same peace, joy, and purpose that I have found. There is so much more to life than what the world offers, and I want others to experience that fullness.

I am excited to share God’s love with every person I meet along this journey. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and support this mission. It truly means a lot.

God bless,
— Grace L.
