Hi! My name is Gregory Vess, and I’m from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am a student at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, studying philosophy. In my spare time, I enjoy running, going for long walks, reading philosophy and theology, and spending time with friends. I have been involved in various ministries in my parish over the years, including altar serving, teaching Sunday school, and helping lead youth group. More recently, I have become involved in campus ministry under the aegises of Holy Cross Chaplaincy and CCO. All of this had afforded me many great opportunities to grow in Christian community.
Why do I want to be on Mission?
I am convinced of the urgent need to “preach Christ crucified,” (1 Corinthians 1:23) most especially to those who may not know Him or know Him in a profound way. Through my own profound encounters with God’s love, He has impressed on my heart His own desire that “everyone be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4). CCO’s World Youth Day mission affords me an amazing opportunity to witness to the great love and mercy of Christ before many young adults like myself, who may not yet be convinced of God’s love for them. The WYD mission also provides me with an opportunity to grow in the missionary identity to which all Christians are called.
