My Story

Hello! My name is Isabella Herbert, but my friends call me Bella! I grew up in Toronto, but currently live in Kingston attending Queen’s University. I am in my second year studying Political Science, and I hope to pursue law after my undergrad. I grew up a dancer and continue that passion at university, keeping myself busy in the studio.

I was blessed to grow up Catholic, and had Catholic teaching and values instilled in me throughout my childhood. When coming to Queen’s, I found Newman House Chaplaincy which has helped me solidify my faith, and has aided me in growing my faith even when I’m away from my family. I signed up for faith studies right away, and this is where I found CCO. Through this I have made some of my best friends who are like-minded, centering their lives around Jesus. This school year I began leading faith studies, and co-leading the women’s holiness group on campus. This has helped me not only grow my faith, but also show it and share it with as many people as I can.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

I want to go on a mission to help spread the message of the love Jesus has for each and every one of us. There are unfortunately so many people, especially youth, who do not practice their faith, and I want to take any and every opportunity I have to spread the faith and the Word of God. I’ve had amazing opportunities being a leader in my own community, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to go to another country to spread the news of Jesus’ personal love for us. There are many people who attend World Youth Day as more of just an event, and are not fully integrated into the Catholic Church, and I will have the ability to reach out to them, to get them deeper into the faith. For the many youth who don’t practice their faith, or don’t fully understand it, I want to be able to help them understand the beauty of the Catholic Church, and what having a meaningful and personal relationship with Jesus is. Jesus instructed us to make disciples of all nations, and I want to fulfill that commandment to the best of my ability.
