Hello everyone, my name is Jenny. I am currently working as a Registered Nurse in Calgary, Alberta. I will be a part of the Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) mission travelling to Panama for World Youth Day 2019.

During high school and university, I struggled with my faith and felt that my relationship with God and Jesus was distant. After a series of broken relationships and uncertainties in my career, I finally realized how important faith is, and I acknowledged that I could no longer push God away. Over the past year, I have had the blessing to become involved with CCO at the University of Calgary campus. I embarked on the journey to renew my faith and to learn about God in a more intimate way. Upon attending CCO’s national conference, Rise Up 2017, and encountering the relic of St. Francis Xavier, I gave my “YES” to make Christ at the center my life. Since then, I have seen God work in my life in ways that I never thought possible. He gave me the courage to be open to sharing my Catholic faith with others and after prayerful discernment, God also led me apply for this mission.

World Youth Day is a celebration of the universal church and how the Catholic faith can unite people of different races, cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. Despite language barriers, the young people of the world are able to connect through their profound love of Jesus.

As a missionary at the World Youth Day 2019 in Panama, there will be opportunities to engage with fellow pilgrims and people of Panama to help strengthen their relationship with God, allowing them to commit to a Christ centered life. When Pope John Paul II reflected on the first World Youth Day in 1985, he stated “I imagined a powerful moment in which the young people of the world could meet Christ, who is eternally young, and could learn from him how to be bearers of the Gospel to other young people…I praise God and give thanks to him for the gift bestowed on the Church through the World Youth Days. Millions of young people have taken part, and as a result have become better and more committed Christian witnesses”. My goal is to help fulfill the Pope’s vision to create strong believers and witnesses of Christ.

I am excited to be a part of this mission and to grow in faith along with my mission team. I ask that you keep the Panama mission team and the entire staff of CCO in your prayers. I also ask that you consider supporting me financially or through prayer.

I think the the theme of World Youth Day in Panama sums it up beautifully:
“I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your Word.”- Luke 1:38

I hope to continue to follow in God’s path for me and to become an instrument of His will during World Youth Day 2019. Amen.

God Bless,

We lead evangelization missions around the world.
