Hello😋!! My name is Kuan, and I am a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. I am studying at the Seminary of Christ the King in Mission BC.

I grew up as a cradle Catholic. Ever since I was young, I could remember my family’s passionate and dedicated involvement within the Church. Growing up, I have never really developed a personal relationship with God. However, one Sunday, I came across a post on my parish’s bulletin about a Vocation Live-in at the seminary, where young men are given the opportunity to experience the life in the seminary.

In December of 2012, I went on my first Vocation Live-in. I was in grade seven at the time. After spending three days in the seminary, I knew this was the place where God was calling me to be, even though I wasn’t able to explain why at the time. There was something about the seminary that was different and unique from all the other Catholic high schools out there that captivated me. The following school year, I enrolled in the seminary as a grade eight, and from then on, a new chapter in my life began.

The beginning of a new chapter can be exciting and nerve-racking, and the seminary life checks all those boxes in its categories. Looking back and reflecting upon the past six years, what defines my journey in the seminary are the events and the people that have led me, for the first time, to encounter the love of God, especially through my wounds and brokenness. Over time, I began to realize how God has transformed my wounds and brokenness into instruments of love, to accompany others and bring others to Christ.

I am super stoked for the opportunity to participate in CCO’s 2020 mission trip to NYC. I hope to foster more deeply my relationship with Christ by encountering Him through my fellow missionaries as well as the people whom I will serve. We are looking forward to partnering with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and sharing the Gospel with the poor. I would like to ask you to consider supporting me financially and also through your prayers. My work is only made possible through supporters like you, so I want to say thank you. Thank you for supporting me and the NYC Mission Team on this trip and through your much-needed prayers! 🙏🏻
