My Story
Hi, my name is Lara! I am a third year student at the University of Calgary, studying both English and Education. You can often find me on our CCO campus’ hangout spot, spending time with my younger brother, or taking a nap with my cat!
In my second year of University, I took a leap of faith—literally, and joined a small group study with the UCalgary CCO. It was through my first experience with Eucharistic Adoration that I experienced a radical shift in my heart. I felt that Jesus was calling me to answer His call to a personal relationship with Him. Since my initial yes, I have continued to give Jesus many more yeses, which has lead me to this years’ Jubilee mission!
Why do I want to be on Mission?
As a student leader on campus, I have witnessed firsthand how a heart for the lost and the pursuit of mission can change lives—of those around me and my own. I strongly desire to allow God to continue to use me by doing, saying, and going wherever He needs me to be. This past semester has also given me the opportunity to participate in a parish mission, and in the course of two days I have felt it ignite a fire in my heart that aches for the Great Commission. As I continue to grow in my faith, I also want to continue to cultivate what mission looks like in my life. With a career in teaching ahead of me, I also seek to use this mission as an opportunity to be let myself be equipped with the tools to continue living out a missionary identity in the classroom.
