My Story
Growing up Catholic, I went to Mass on Sundays because that’s just what we did as a family. But if you asked me why, I wouldn’t have really known what to say. Jesus was more of an idea than someone I had a real connection with. I wasn’t sure where I stood with Him, and to be honest, I didn’t think much about it.
Then, one day, I was invited to take a faith study. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as I went through Discovery, I started to see my faith in a new way. With each lesson, I found myself drawn in more and more. It wasn’t just about rules or tradition—it was about a relationship. But even though I was learning a lot, I still felt like something was missing.
Then came the follow-up to Lesson Five. I was challenged to personally invite Jesus to be at the center of my life. I hesitated. I had never really done anything like that before. But as I prayed and spoke those words to Jesus, something happened. I felt His presence in a way I never had before—so strong that I was moved to tears. It was like Jesus had been knocking on the door of my heart for so long, and I had finally opened it.
That moment changed everything. My faith wasn’t just something I did on Sundays anymore—it became real. I knew I wanted more, so I decided to sign up for Rise Up. The theme of the conference was Take Courage, and as I listened to the talks and spent time in prayer, I felt the Holy Spirit convict me: I was being called to mission. It wasn’t just about my own relationship with Jesus—I was meant to share Him with others.
That’s when I made the decision to lead a faith study on campus. At first, I was nervous. Inviting people, talking about faith—it wasn’t something I was used to. But the same courage I had felt at Rise Up was there again. I was stepping out in ways I never imagined, and I could see that God was working. Even in outreach, when I was inviting people to take a study, I felt a boldness that wasn’t from me—it was from Him.
Now, my life is completely different. I not only know Jesus personally, but I have the courage to live for Him and to share Him with others. The fear that used to hold me back is gone. I know that Jesus is at the center of my life, and that’s where He belongs.
Why do I want to be on Mission?
I want to be on this mission because I have experienced the life-changing love of Jesus, and I feel called to share that with others. Knowing Him has given me courage and purpose, and I want to help others encounter Him in the same way. This mission is an opportunity to step out in faith and be a witness to His transforming power.
