My name is Mellisa Tsaurayi. I am currently residing in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. I am originally from Harare, Zimbabwe. I am in my 3rd year at Memorial University of Newfoundland majoring in Political Science with a minor in Law and Society. My goal/aim is to apply to Law School in the future as l have always dreamt of being a Human Rights Lawyer. l have always been interested in being a voice for the voiceless and standing up for what is right. During my spare time l enjoy reading books, watching reality shows, going on coffee and tea dates with friends. l like travelling, meeting new people, making new friends and l also like going for karaoke.
Why do I want to be on Mission?
I have always wanted to be involved with the church and do something for God. In a world where not too many young people are involved with the church, I want to make a difference. Moving to Canada in 2021 and getting involved with Catholic Christian Outreach(CCO) was the piece l needed to complete my puzzle. The more l got involved with CCO, the more l got curious and interested in pursuing my faith as a Catholic. Getting to know more about Jesus, l found myself wanting to be more like Him. With the help of the CCO missionaries on campus l got opportunities to take part in learning more about the gospel and teaching it myself. Witnessing other young people like me accept Christ has been one of the greatest blessings. After experiencing my first encounter with Christ and witnessing God change people’s lives l heard him calling me to do more which is how l decided l want to go on mission. It felt right. I want to be on this mission because l believe l am called to be in it and l believe it is going to help me strengthen my relationship with God.
