My Story
Hi! For those who don’t know, my name is Susannah and I am a second year student at the U of S, pursuing a degree in Food & Nutrition. I grew up in Scott, a tiny town in Saskatchewan, where many of my life passions were cultivated: my love for family and friends, my passion for music and piano, my interest in nutrition and wholistic living, and most importantly my love for Christ and my desire to live as His disciple. After high school I attended two years at St. Therese Institute of Faith & Mission in Bruno. Here, my relationship with Jesus was deepened and I gained a strong foundation in how to cultivate my faith and live out the specific call Christ had placed on my life. When I am not studying, you’ll find me spending time with my family and close friends (my favorite thing is chatting and walking by the South Saskatchewan River with a coffee) or in my apartment meal prepping and cleaning (chores that conveniently double as some of my favorite hobbies).
Why do I want to be on Mission?
Very simply, I want to be on this mission because I know God wants me to be on this mission. Since September of last year, I have felt an undeniable tug from the Holy Spirit to be more courageous in giving my yes to whatever God invites me to. When a CCO missionary spoke to me in February about the opportunity to go on mission to Rome, I knew that God had been preparing my heart in the months leading up, to give a courageous yes. If you know me, you know I’m not an adventurous or spontaneous person; I’m a homebody, and I like to plan and know exactly what I’m getting into before I say yes. I knew God was calling me in this moment because despite my fear and natural inclination to say no, I felt tremendous peace and even excitement to let God take me on a path I did not plan for myself. A missing piece in my spiritual life has been the courage to share the gospel with people who do not know Christ. My own love for Him has grown to a point where I can no longer keep it only to myself. Going on this mission is my act of opening the door to Christ to allow Him to transform me more into His disciple and to allow Him to use me as a vessel of His love and saving message.
