Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

My name is Tiffany Biensch and I am currently in my fourth year of psychology at St. Mary’s University in Calgary. I work part-time at St. Mary’s in Campus Ministry where I focus on Catholic student events and social justice initiatives. I love this job as it allows me to share my love of God with the students around me. I do this by creating opportunities for students to experience God through guest speakers, prayer times, the sacraments, retreats, etc. I also volunteer with junior high and high school youth ministries in my parish communities. Working with youth is an amazing experience as it allows me to walk with youth through their faith journey and support them. I plan to pursue a career that allows me to share happiness and encouragement with people around me and promote justice and joy! I believe that we are called to be vessels of God and that this can be shown through something as small as a smile. I have been so blessed to be used by God for these various ministries in Calgary and am even more blessed that He has extended this call to Cameroon!

When I was young, I read a book about David Livingston – a Christian missionary called by the Lord to preach the good news in Africa. I was so inspired by David’s willingness and obedience of heart when he heard the voice of the Lord, even in the face of great tribulation. After reading this book, I prayed that God would one day bring me to Africa to follow in the footsteps of His faithful missionaries.

In December 2018 I was greatly blessed to meet Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) at their yearly event, Rise Up. Meeting missionaries of CCO, I knew I had found people with hearts full of love for the Lord and desirous to spread their love of Him to others. I also learned that they offered a mission project to Africa – and the moment I learned about the African mission projects, I remembered my childhood prayer. I knew this mission to Cameroon was the opportunity I had prayed for many years before. I raced to adoration to ask the Lord to confirm this call in my heart. Before I made it to the sacred space, I knew I would be on this trip.

In addition to feeling great, prayerful excitement about this, I must also consider the logistics of the trip. As many expenses- including flights to and from Ottawa, medical insurance, a travel visa, and other costs – are not included in the overall costs of the mission. Unfortunately, my student budget is not adequate to cover these costs, and therefore have brought my concern to the Lord in prayer. The first moment I brought this before God in prayer, I heard the gentle and loving words of our Lord: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26). I know that, as He has His Eye on the little birds of the air and provides for all of their needs, God has his eye on me too, a little bird called to this great mission.
I humbly ask you to consider supporting me by making a donation and also by contributing in prayer for our mission. Even as I know that God has blessed me in this call to mission and that He will bless me by providing for my needs, I also know that He blesses you in turn for your generosity and kindness. Thank you for your time in reading this post and for your willingness to heed the voice of the Lord. I pray blessings, peace and the joy of Christ upon you and all those who prayerfully support our mission!

Yours in Christ,
Tiffany Biensch
