I have truly been blessed with the family that I have. I am from a traditional Filipino family, and I admire my parents greatly for everything they have done in my life. My parents, Jhun and Vivian, have molded me into the man I am today, and I am forever thankful for their presence, guidance, and love. I have a younger sister named Vivien who always seems to amaze me whether she knows it or not. We might not always see eye to eye, but I really am proud of what she has accomplished and will continue to do as she grows older. I also have a massive extended family with amazing cousins, relatives, and family friends. Without my family, I wouldn’t know what to do. Let’s remember that blood is thicker than water!

I grew up in a Catholic family and went through the Catholic school system as well. I went to Mass on Sundays, prayed when I could, and received the Sacraments when I was told to. I was “in-tune” with my faith life all throughout high school, but when I went to university, I shoved religion to the back of my priorities. It wasn’t until my second year at Ryerson that I encountered CCO and the Ryerson Catholics. At first, I was hesitant to attend the faith study, but I am very glad I did. I thought I knew everything about being a Catholic, but I actually didn’t know anything at all. I was lost but I didn’t even know it. The Discovery faith study really changed my perspective on God and opened my eyes. I did not know that you could have a personal relationship with Him. I was taught that Jesus was this great guy who died for humanity, but I was not taught that each and every one of us was called to have an ultimate relationship with him. When I realized this, that was the beginning of my new faith journey with God. Every time somebody brings up Jesus, my eyes light up and I am filled with joy. There is honestly much more to life than people think. If you put your trust in Jesus, He’ll take care of everything. All you have to say is “yes” and He will lead. Jesus is my favourite guy. I love Him!

In the fall of 2016, I became a first year campus missionary at my alma mater, Ryerson University! I was really excited to go to Ryerson to start off my missionary career. The highlight of my role so far dates back to when I was a faith study leader. The growth of the people I led in my faith studies was a great highlight for me. The curiosity and excitement that these students brought to every study was a tremendous sight to see. I absolutely love witnessing people grow in their faith and seeing how God is working in their lives.

Now, to be able to do this as a full-time job, I could not ask for anything more special. I hope to continue to lead others closer to God in any way that I can. With the Holy Spirit on my side, I’m sure I will. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

CCO has done many wonders in my life and the lives of people around me. Faith studies laid down the foundation of what being a Christian really meant and how much love God has for us. Rise Up was also an amazing experience for myself and all of the students who attended. To see the impact God had on my friends during this conference was something I will never forget. The atmosphere was insane and it was a really fulfilling moment to see the growth of my friends in their faith.

To be in such a positive, loving, and faithful environment with so many amazing people is such a blessing. It really is inspiring to see people devote their lives to God and the mission of proclaiming the Gospel to others. My faith has grown stronger by being on staff and will definitely continue to do so forever. I am by no means perfect and I will never be, but with the grace of God and the awesome people around me, I will be one step closer than I was yesterday.

Please pray for my family, my ministry, and CCO as a whole.
