Laura Murphy

I always knew God existed, but I believed he couldn’t love me because of my brokenness. While I was in university, he spoke truth into my life during an evening of adoration. He told me I was loved unconditionally. I heard the Father say that I was his beloved daughter. This love radically changed my life and my relationship with Jesus. Growing in this relationship led me to consider how to more intentionally live out my faith.

I came to know CCO through a wild series of events that lead to participating in the CCO Mission to World Youth Day in Poland. On that mission, I fell in love with CCO and the special way in which they live out the universal call to mission. I saw how they invite university students to live in the fullness of the Catholic faith at such a pivotal time in their lives.

My Mission

I have the honour of serving as the Team Leader at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, where CCO has been making an impact since 2010. Every day is filled with joy as I see students encounter Jesus in a genuine and personal way. One of my favourite parts of my job is when students talk with me about how their lives have been changed through knowing Jesus and how they now desire to share him with others. I then get to journey alongside these young people as they take up the invitation to lead their own CCO faith study. Their faith becomes more concrete as they share with others and their heart for mission grows as they see their small group encounter Jesus. My job is truly amazing!
