I’m originally from a small town in northeast Saskatchewan. I grew up in a very supportive and loving family with my parents, Kerry and Lolery, and a younger sister, Charlotte. Faith was never part of my life growing up so I had never considered it for myself.
In the fall of 2015 I was approached by a missionary with Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) at the University of Saskatchewan. Although I had no experience with faith, I gave him and the movement the benefit of the doubt. For the next two years I participated in CCO faith studies, went to their events, and made incredible new friends. However, I was always unsure if God existed and could never bring myself to fully believe in Him.
I encountered Jesus and began a relationship with Him on April 7, 2017! I was at a CCO prayer event, and I was convinced after lots of searching that God did not exist. What happened that night was incredible. Jesus showed me that He was real, and that He was with me all along. My life completely changed after that night, and I haven’t looked back since.
For the next year, I dived into my involvement with CCO. I took the faith studies seriously and asked the missionaries to help me grow in my relationship with Jesus. As I followed where Jesus called me, I knew what He was asking of me. He was calling me to give Him my complete and total ‘yes’, and to commit to Him by entering into the Catholic Church. On March 31, 2018, at the Easter Vigil Mass, I officially became Catholic. That is the day that I placed Jesus at the centre of my life.
Since that day, Jesus has revealed so much about His personal love for me and my identity as a missionary disciple. I became a student leader at the UofS, leading many men and women through faith studies. I spent a year on the student executive/leadership team, helping to steer the movement. I went on a CCO Mission to Honduras in 2018, where I saw the gospel’s power to transcend language and cultural barriers. These incredible experiences helped prepare my heart to see that Jesus was calling me to be a CCO Missionary! In fact, He was showing me that I was very intentionally made for this.
Now that my time as a student at the UofS has come to an end, I am beyond excited to say that my time with CCO has not! I have the great privilege to serve as a campus missionary at the University of Winnipeg. There I will be proclaiming the Gospel and accompanying the young men and women that Jesus places in my life. I am so blessed to have been called by Jesus to this essential work, and I cannot imagine dedicating my life to anything else.
ONGOING PRAYER REQUESTS
Please pray for the students at the University of Winnipeg – that their hearts would be open to the message of the gospel and to a dynamic, personal relationship with Jesus Christ!
Also, please pray that great missionary saints would rise up out of the University of Winnipeg through our ministry.
