Activate is a new offering from Catholic Christian Outreach.

Since 1988, CCO has been intentionally coming alongside individuals, to share the gospel and invite others into a personal relationship with Jesus. With the support of CCO missionaries and leaders, individuals are then equipped to live a Spirit-filled, Christ-centered life, and commissioned to evangelize those around them.

Thousands of vibrant, faith-filled, missionary leaders have been raised up through this method of intentional accompaniment. Learn more about CCO here.
Intentional Accompaniment
In 2013, Pope Francis invited the entire church to be initiated into the art of accompaniment, stating:
“In our world, ordained ministers and other pastoral workers can make present the fragrance of Christ’s closeness and his personal gaze. The Church will have to initiate everyone – priests, religious, laity – into this “art of accompaniment” which teaches us to remove our sandals before the sacred ground of the other. The pace of this accompaniment must be steady and reassuring, reflecting our closeness and our compassionate gaze which also heals, liberates and encourages growth in the Christian life.” Evangelii Gaudium, no. 169

Activate
As the church seeks to respond to this new missionary age and leaders are awakened to their personal call to evangelize, CCO felt prompted to share the methods and principles that have borne evangelistic fruit for so many years.
Jesus was the first intentional accompanier. He modeled this strategy of coming alongside a few individuals (the Apostles), with the time he had, in order to reach the ends of the earth. The Apostles continued to use this strategy as they went out.
Activate is a response to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), and to the need that exists for missionary disciples who can reach their family, friends, and neighbors with the gospel message.
This need sparked our research to discover the key elements necessary for any Catholic to effectively reach those around them. In conducting surveys, and small group focus groups with CCO alumni, we soon realized that the people who were effectively reaching those around them had 3 things in common:
These 3 elements became the pillars around which we have built Activate.
Our deepest hope is that these courses can serve to raise up more Christ-centered, Spirit filled leaders who will evangelize the world one person at a time.
