During this past Jubilee Year of Hope, your partnership enabled thousands of students to be invited into a relationship with Jesus. One of our CCO Students, Mary, had this to say about the leaders who were on campus to walk with her:

Growing up, my faith felt irrelevant—something to think about later. Even though I sometimes sensed a quiet voice telling me I was going down the wrong path, I still chose the ways of the world.

When I arrived at university, some friends told me they were taking CCO faith studies and said it was the best thing they’d done. I joined, and not long after, my leader invited me to a CCO Fall retreat. School was getting stressful, so I decided to take a break.

At the retreat, I felt completely out of place. Everyone seemed so perfect, and I didn’t feel like I deserved to be there. My friends encouraged me to go to confession, and when I did, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. It finally clicked for me when, later that semester, my CCO small group leader invited me to place Jesus at the centre of my life. When I said yes, I experienced amazing peace and his never-ending love. Everything changed. I was on fire with love for Jesus and the Church.

I used to be too shy to talk about my faith, but now I find any opportunity I can to share it because I truly believe that everyone should experience a true love like Jesus’ love.

They’re not only leading on campus, but they are going on mission—both internationally and within their dioceses. Mary and other CCO students worked on a parish mission in Lethbridge, collaborating with the Diocese of Calgary for the Jubilee of Hope. One highlight of their mission was leading a powerful retreat.
