Alisa G.

Hi! My name is Alisa and I’m a fourth year Health Sciences student at the University of Calgary. My family is from Albania but I’ve grown up in Calgary my whole life as the oldest of three siblings. One thing about me is that I love to dance! I was trained in classical ballet for the majority of my life, since I was 5. I work as a dance teacher now, and you’ll still always find me at the studio taking a class (or watching a ballet)!

Growing up in a Catholic family, Jesus has always been a part of my life in some context, but it wasn’t until a personal encounter I had with the Lord in my last year of high school that I realized what it truly meant to be loved by God—and to love Him. Finding CCO shortly after allowed me to find a community of Christ-centered individuals that have helped me grow in my faith beyond what I knew possible, and has truly been a highlight of my time in university.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

My time as a faith study leader over the past three and-a-half years has allowed me to witness firsthand how incredible it is to be able to accompany others as they grow in their faith. This has ignited my heart for the mission and my desire to let Christ be known, and has been one of the great joys in my life. I had the privilege of going on mission to Malta last year, which only fostered my desire to be missionary. If you had told me during my first year that I’d be going on not only one but two mission trips, I would have never believed you. Praise God for the opportunity to be used by Him! I can’t wait to see how God uses me and the rest of the mission team to help build up the Church in Wales.
