My Story
Hi! My name is Ana, I’m 23 years old, and I live in Mexico City. I studied psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, and I hope to become a clinical psychologist in the future. I love playing and listening to music, reading about topics I’m passionate about, travelling, exercising, and spending time with the people I love. Over the past few years, studying abroad as an international student has taught me how to live independently, manage my responsibilities, and grow as a person. My family and I are very close, so being away from them has not always been easy, and learning how to navigate life on your own can be difficult. On top of that, adjusting to a new culture and environment can transform even the smallest everyday moments into opportunities for growth. Through these experiences, I’ve learned a lot about myself and how I want to move through the world.
These experiences have also helped me grow in my field and in my faith. I’ve discovered that I deeply value serving others and supporting people with the abilities I’ve been given. Through my studies and experiences, I’ve developed a passion for working with vulnerable populations and learning about mental health, the human mind, and human behaviour. Most importantly, I’ve found great joy in serving the Lord within my community and encountering Him in everyday life and through His Church. I hope to continue growing in all of these areas, and I see this mission as a meaningful opportunity to serve others while allowing God to work through me.
Why do I want to be on Mission?
I have been growing in my faith for about six years now and have become very passionate about sharing it with others while continuing to learn more about it myself. It has not always been simple, and getting to know Jesus does not necessarily make life easier. Becoming involved in and serving Catholic communities first in Canada and later in Mexico, while navigating various struggles over the years, has helped me grow spiritually—but the biggest turning point came this year.
In January, I faced a difficult emotional situation during a time when other areas of my life also felt uncertain. During that season, I came to know God in a much more personal way and realized that He was calling me to deepen my trust in Him. As someone who likes to be in control, this has been one of the hardest lessons for me to learn. Part of that journey meant finally taking a leap of faith and saying yes to this mission.
I am deeply passionate about working with and supporting communities, but since this is my first mission experience, it also means stepping outside of my comfort zone. I’m excited for the opportunity to continue growing in trust and humility, serve others wholeheartedly, and allow God to work through me however He wills.
