My Story
Hello!
My name is Angela. The main hats I wear are mom, sports dietitian, and wife of a CCO missionary. It has been my privilege for years to give my yes to the Lord and see where He leads.
My BA in theology and philosophy came from my years both at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom (Ontario) and the Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio). My BSc in Health Sciences came from my years both at UNBSJ (New Brunswick) and UOttawa (Ontario). During my studies and after, I spent 19 years in the Canadian Armed Forces military reserves as a musician. Fun fact – working in the military is where my husband and I met! As a missionary family we have lived in Ottawa and Halifax (now back in Ottawa). And as a sports dietitian, I have been privileged to work with individual athletes and teams, delivering workshops on sports nutrition and helping people to achieve their best by fueling their bodies well.
It may sound “all over the place” to read all of those things in one paragraph. But for me, it has been a lifetime of seeking the Lord and saying yes to the adventures He has for me.
Why do I want to be on Mission?
For years now, my husband Cameron has been the one who goes out on mission, while I do the mission support role of keeping things running on the home front. It has always been my pleasure to support CCO’s missions in this way. But when the Camino mission started to take shape – a shorter mission, aimed at alumni – I saw in it an opportunity to go myself. Our goal will be to meet Camino pilgrims as they embark on the Way of St. James and break open the Gospel for them clearly and simply – think road-to-Emmaus style. Thousands of individuals undertake this mission every year, hearts open and hiking boots on. The Camino is the oldest Catholic pilgrimage in the world, and yet so many pilgrims come and go without ever explicitly encountering the Gospel message – what a fitting endeavour in the new evangelization! I am excited to see what the Lord will do with our yes as we set out to journey on the Way with Him this fall. I am already praying for the hearts who will encounter Him through our efforts. Pray with me: “Come, Holy Spirit!”
