My Story

Hello! My name is Faith, I’m completing the final year of my Bachelor of Social work degree at York University. I am the oldest of 5 and I live in downtown Toronto. My family is Portuguese (so naturally all things “Our Lady of Fatima” is nostalgic to me). I work at the library – and get the best book recommendations – I lead a very small youth ministry at my parish, and I love spending time with my friends, family and Jesus.

Growing up in a family with lots of kids, always at church and my parents being two mission trip veterans – it was hard not to fit the “Holy Kid” stereotype. There was a time in my life when “Holy” was not my favourite label – now it is one I strive for. I know now that my truest Identity is a beloved daughter of God, Praise Jesus!!

Why do I want to be on Mission?

God and I share big dreams. He has blessed me with a big imagination, and I know He has even bigger plans for me. I often dream of all the places God will take me, and the things He wants to do with me. I hope for adventure and closeness with Jesus. And fortunately for me – there is no greater adventure than journeying with God.

At the start of last year I received a great desire to live on Mission. I didn’t know what that looked like at the time but I pressed into it, spent the year trying to figure it out, and by the beginning of 2026 I was applying for missions. I looked at a few mission opportunities but there was one that caught my eye in an intentional way. If there is one thing I want to share with more people – it is love of the Eucharist. Jesus’ true presence has been my greatest consolation and deepest motivation since I’ve come to learn more about the Blessed Sacrament. So when I was reading up on the mission and I saw its’ Eucharistic nature I was immediately drawn to it.
I see mission as an opportunity to spread the love of Jesus and to see Him reflected in His people everywhere – and in this case it’s Ireland. St Patrick and St. Carlo Acutis, pray for us!
