Hi! My name is Gary Friesen, and I’m a business student at Brock University in Ontario. I live at home with my parents and brother—we’re all a very tightly knit family, praise God! In my free time, I run a social media page on Instagram where I dedicate all of my posts to spreading the Word of God to as many people as possible. It has given me a great sense of purpose in the world, and I am grateful to the Lord for calling me to online evangelization for the building of His kingdom. I love to watch movies and drink coffee (French vanilla, to be exact haha). I hope one day I can use my skills and talents I will have acquired in my university career to start a business geared toward helping other people know who Jesus is.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

I want to go on a mission because this opportunity feels like a step of trust—to say “yes” to God and allow Him to work in others through me. I’ve seen firsthand from the mission I was involved in last year that God can move in marvellous ways, like bringing that person back to the Church after years of having fallen away, giving someone else a renewed hope in the goodness of the Lord, introducing the Gospel to another person who has never heard it before, and helping that individual place Jesus at the center of their life.
I don’t see this as merely a trip to Ireland but as part of the person I’m becoming and, God-willing, a mission that allows Him to transform the hearts of the people He places in front of me while I’m there. The fact is, we need Jesus in our lives—not just in part of our lives, but at the center—because He is “the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6), the One who fulfills the deepest longing of our hearts. And if, through your prayers and financial support, I am able to help God bring even one more lost sheep back into His embrace, that alone will be enough to make the kingdom of heaven resound with unending joy.
