Hi, my name is Lara! I am a fourth year student at the University of Calgary, studying both English and Education. You can often find me on our CCO campus’ hangout spot, hanging out with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration, at my favourite coffee shop enjoying a london fog, or at the bookstore adding to my ever-growing “to be read” list!

In my second year of University, I took a leap of faith—literally, and joined a small group study with the UCalgary CCO. It was through my first experience with Eucharistic Adoration that I experienced a radical shift in my heart. I felt that Jesus was prompting me to answer His call to a personal relationship with Him. Since my initial yes, I have continued to give Jesus many more yeses, both personally and with on-campus ministry. Praise God for Him leading me to mission this year!

Why do I want to be on Mission?

As a student leader on campus, I have witnessed firsthand how a heart for the lost and the pursuit of mission can change lives—of those around me and my own. My involvement with CCO has continued to grow my thirst for God to continue to use me by doing, saying, and going wherever He needs me to be. In the 2025 Jubilee year, I was blessed with the opportunity to go on mission in Malta and in the course of that mission I felt it ignite a fire in my heart that aches for the Great Commission. Having been able to attend CCO’s Rise Up conference at the end of the year has only increased this zeal a hundredfold. As I continue to grow in my faith, I also want to continue to cultivate what mission looks like in my daily life. With a career in teaching ahead of me, I also seek to use this mission as an opportunity to let myself be equipped with the tools to continue living out a missionary identity in the classroom.
