My Story

Hi! My name is Laurie and I am currently a student at Carleton University, in Ottawa. I major in Cognitive Science with a Concentration in Philosophy, which is very fitting since I love deep conversations, heart-to-hearts, and exploring different perspectives. I spend most of my free time outside, reading or thinking, and I can spend all day sitting in the sun. Along with this, a perfect evening to me looks like a campfire gathering with my inner circle, under the stars, while playing some (oldies!) worship on the guitar. Undoubtedly, it is in these small moments I encounter Jesus’ peace; He is a breath of fresh air, a warm and bright sun, and the love found in a serene, harmonious night.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

Growing up, I attended catholic schools, but often felt very distant and disconnected to my faith. Consequently, I took a stray path, and entered one that left me empty, unfulfilled and lost (this story isn’t over). Having reached the nadir of my life, I found Jesus through a close friend and I found a new direction, one filled with joy and hope. I believe God often speaks through those we least expect, and that is why I desire to go on mission. I pray that through my yes, He can reach at least one person who is in great need of His love.

Help Laurie Make Jesus Known
