Steven V.

My name is Steven, and I am currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia studying a Bachelor of Arts at Saint Mary’s University. I was baptized Catholic as an infant and have been raised in a devout Catholic family since birth. My brother is currently in seminary studying to become a Priest and my dad is currently in the process of becoming a Permanent Deacon. I love to attend mass everyday if I can, and I also pray the Liturgy of the Hours and pray with many Catholic devotions, such as the Rosary and to the saints.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

For a while now, I have wanted to go on mission, and I felt this desire stir up more at Rise Up 2025 and when I did outreach at the start of second semester this year. Though I was a bit nervous at first, once I did it, I was told I was a natural at it, and it was because of God’s grace. As someone who is Gen Z, I also love to spread the faith through social media. CCO has also helped me become more aware of how the Holy Spirit works. At the Spring Retreat in Halifax, us participants prayed over one another, and asked the Holy Spirit to give us an image and relate it to the person we were praying over. CCO has taught me that if we allow him, God gives us the words to say when sharing the faith with others. All of this has made me want to grow even more closer to God, and I believe he has used my experience with CCO to increase my desire for mission. I have never been to the Martyrs Shrine before and was told that it is an amazing place. I pray that through this mission, God will use me like he did with the Canadian Martyrs to invite people to encounter him. Canadian Martyrs and Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us.
