My Story

Hi my name is Zydelle and I am currently studying Psychology in University of Saskatchewan. My family and I moved to Canada in 2018 from the Philippines. I have always been Catholic but never fully practiced it. I just know it was deeply rooted in my culture but I have never taken it seriously. When my cousin told me about CCO, I decided to give it a try. During my first faith study, I didn’t just learn about God, I actually encountered His love. Ever since then, I have opened myself to various possibilities of deepening my relationship with God. Is it easy? Definitely not, I realized that it also means going out of my comfort zone in ways I have never expected. However, I have grown to like it because it challenges me to be better and to share my faith with others.

I love music, I especially love praise and worship music. There are lots of times when I don’t know how to express myself through my own words so I do it through music. Musical adorations help me form the right words when I need it, it’s like my bridge to the heart of Jesus. One of the things I love the most is jamming with people, whether it’s a deep moment of worship or a chaotic jamming session. Music is where I feel most like myself. It’s definitely better to be shared with others.

Why do I want to be on Mission?

I have been hearing about missions ever since I joined CCO. I was curious about the people sharing their experience, how it changed their lives and deepened their faith. When I participated on a local Sask mission in Redvers, I was inspired on how it changed and impacted the parishioners. I was able to witness people having an encounter with Jesus, it filled my heart with hope and love for people. I felt the desire to go on a bigger mission with CCO to help give people the opportunity to get to know Jesus. I applied to the Martyrs Shrine Mission because I am very curious to be in the same place where Canadian Martyrs have dedicated their life to spread the Kerygma.
