My Story

The treasure that is the Catholic faith, of which Jesus Christ is the centre, has always been a part of my life from an early age. While growing up in a Catholic home and attending Catholic schools, well into adulthood my approach to, and understanding of, my faith remained largely superficial. This was even despite some beautiful experiences of God’s grace in the sacraments, and through pilgrimages to holy places which now, looking back, I realize made me more open to a deeper personal relationship with Him.

In my early working years, I had some moving experiences of God’s love for me which brought me to a place of greater faith and trust. I became active in young adult ministry, and encountered CCO for the first time. Through CCO’s faith studies, I realized I needed to allow Jesus to be at the centre of my life – a clear, simple, yet powerful idea.

In the spring of 2022, I felt a particular call to discern the diocesan priesthood, and so I left my job and entered formation at St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto. While my ultimate discernment was that Our Lord was not calling me to serve him as a priest, I treasure my time at the seminary and the growth in faith and personal formation it provided. I believe that time was also a preparation to serve Him as a missionary member of CCO.

My Mission

My role as General Counsel is to support CCO’s mission of forming lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, by helping to ensure that the organization operates with integrity, prudence, and faithfulness to its legal and governance responsibilities, stewarding its people, resources, and reputation well in service of evangelization. My goal is to support and enable our front-line evangelization efforts, utilizing skills and experience gained through 20 years working in private practice, government, and as an in-house counsel.

I provide legal advice to our Board of Directors, President, executive team, and senior leaders across domains such as governance, employment, privacy, contracts and regulatory compliance, among others.

It’s a source of great joy and satisfaction for me to be able to work with the amazing people here at CCO to fulfill the Great Commission at a time when it is so clearly needed. Many people today, and university students in a particular way, are being moved by the Holy Spirit to seek out the Catholic faith, and I am grateful to be a part of CCO’s efforts to enable that encounter.
