Mariana Nandayapa Barrera

Coming from a Latin country, I was raised Catholic. However, this didn’t mean that I had a personal relationship with Christ. I looked at being Catholic and going to mass as something I had to do because everyone else around me was also doing it. As I began university, there were different ideas that were presented to me, and I had to decide what kind of a life I wanted to live.

The decision was difficult, and it wasn’t until I went on a mission with CCO where my life changed. It was then that I accepted my identity as a beloved daughter of God, and I knew that I was given this identity through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Since that moment, I have tried to grow in my relationship with Christ, and I continue to see the love that He has for all of His children. I know that I am not perfect, but I am perfectly loved.

As of this year, I will be working with Missions and Events. Going on a mission changed my life, and if I am able to help even one person have a personal experience with Christ then it is worth it.

Please pray for all of the students who will be encountering Christ for the first time, that they have an open heart to the plans that the Lord has for them. As well as that their families be supportive of them during their faith journey.

Pray as well for a renewal of the Americas.

Siendo Latina, crecí católica. Pero esto no significaba que tenía una relación personal con Cristo. Yo miraba ir a misa como algo que tenía que hacer porque todos los demás a mi alrededor también lo estaban haciendo. Cuando comencé la universidad, había diferentes ideas en mi cabeza, y tuve que decidir qué tipo de vida quería vivir.

No fue hasta que fui a una misión con CCO donde mi vida cambió. Pude ver el amor que Dios tiene por sus hijos. Fue entonces cuando acepté mi identidad como una amada hija de Dios, y me fue dada esta identidad a través de la muerte y resurrección de Jesús. Desde ese momento, he tratado de crecer en mi relación con Cristo y sigo viendo el amor que Él tiene para cada uno de Sus hijos. Sé que no soy perfecta, pero soy perfectamente amada.

A partir de este año, estaré trabajando con Misiones y Eventos. Ser parte de una misión cambió mi vida, y si puedo ayudar a una persona a tener una experiencia personal con Cristo vale la pena.

Oremos por todos los estudiantes que se encontrarán con Cristo por primera vez, para que tengan un corazón abierto a los planes que el Señor tiene para ellos. Recemos por sus familias, que los apoyen durante su encuentro con Dios.
